Germán Quiroga Keeps Top-10 Streak Alive, Finishes Ninth at Charlotte

Germán Quiroga crossed the checkered line ninth in the North Carolina Education Lottery 200 at Charlotte Motor Speedway on Friday night, becoming the only driver in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series who has earned a top-10 finish in all four races this season. Both practice sessions were cancelled on Thursday due to rain, so the No. 77 OtterBox team had to rely on the only practice session Friday morning to get the Toyota Tundra race ready. Quiroga reported during practice that the truck was too tight in the corners. The team worked on making adjustments before qualifying but only advanced to the second round of the new knock-out qualifying format, earning a 20th-place starting spot. Temperatures at the Concord, North Carolina race track dropped once the race was underway, giving Quiroga a better handling truck. When the first caution of the night came on lap 21, Quiroga brought the black and yellow machine down pit road for four tires and a track bar adjustment. The Mexico City native immediately began to feel improvements with the handling of his Toyota Tundra, and he steadily began to make his way through the field. There were a total of nine cautions during the 134-lap race, and Quiroga showed impressive driving skill by staying out of trouble and maneuvering his was around various incidents throughout the night. The Red Horse Racing driver is now positioned third in the championship point standings, and heads to Dover International Speedway for the fifth race on the 2014 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series schedule with five consecutive top-10 finishes.

Germán Quiroga Quote:

“I’m really happy with our finish here at Charlotte (Motor Speedway) tonight. We didn’t start the race feeling very confident in our Toyota Tundra, but Butch (Hylton) my crew chief and the entire crew kept pushing all night and we had a great truck towards the end of the race. Another top 10 is good for us, but now I’m hungry for those top-five finishes and to capture that first win. I can’t thank everyone at Red Horse Racing enough for all of their hard work, and OtterBox and NET10 Wireless for their support.”
