No. 11 Sport Clips Toyota Camry TRD News and Notes

  • HAMLIN AT MARTINSVILLE: Denny Hamlin leads all active drivers in wins (five), top-10 finishes (23) and laps led (2,190) at Martinsville Speedway. Additionally, the Virginia native is tied for the most top-five finishes (17) and has the second-most pole awards (four) at Martinsville. He claimed his first victory at the .526-mile oval in 2008 before winning three consecutive races at the track from October 2009 to October 2010. His most recent Martinsville win came in March 2015.
  • FRONT RUNNER: Hamlin’s 2,190 laps led at Martinsville Speedway are the most amongst active NASCAR Cup Series drivers. He ranks ninth on the all-time lap leader list at Martinsville.
  • BRISTOL RECAP: Hamlin finished 22nd in last weekend’s dirt race at Bristol Motor Speedway. After starting 30th, he was collected in an accident late in stage one. He recovered back into the top 20 in stage two and a strategy call put him in the top 10 to start the final segment. Unfortunately for Hamlin, a spin early in the final stage sent him to the back again and he rallied back up to 22nd by the time the checkered flag waved.
  • SPORT CLIPS: Sport Clips will be featured as the primary sponsor for Hamlin this weekend at Martinsville Speedway. The sports-themed haircutting franchise based in Georgetown, Texas is a longtime supporter of Joe Gibbs Racing dating back to 2009 and has more than 1,850 stores in the United States and Canada.
  • JGR AT MARTINSVILLE: Joe Gibbs Racing has earned 14 NASCAR Cup Series wins at Martinsville Speedway, including Christopher Bell’s victory last fall. In 162 combined starts at the track, the organization has tallied 56 top-five finishes, 86 top-10s, 10 pole awards, and 6,464 laps led. Kyle Busch, Bobby Labonte, Tony Stewart, and Martin Truex Jr. join Bell and Hamlin on the list of drivers who have driven JGR entries to victory lane at Martinsville.
  • TUNE IN: Coverage of this weekend’s race at Martinsville Speedway begins Sunday, April 16, at 3 p.m. ET on FOX Sports 1, MRN Radio, and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.

Denny Hamlin, Driver of the No. 11 Sport Clips Toyota Camry TRD

What do you expect going to Martinsville this weekend?

“I think the racing will be better than what we saw last year. The aero package this year has helped with some of the problems we had, but definitely not all of them. You’re still going to have to shift at both ends every lap, so that’s going to be a factor and will make it difficult to pass. But like in the fall, we had a strong car and were able to make passes on guys, so I’m looking forward to this weekend. I think this is a good stretch for me and our 11 team based on past results. We need to take advantage of these upcoming tracks to get some stage points and be up front in contention for wins.”
