PAUL MENARD QUOTES:

Do you feel that Pocono Raceway was in need of being repaved?

"I can't speak for the track because I don't know what condition the actual surface was in. I've never walked on the track. I've only driven around it. As a driver, I always like the older, worn out tracks and I hate to see them repaved. But if there is asphalt that's not going to last for the duration of the race, like we saw at Daytona (International Speedway) then it warrants a repave. Drivers don't typically like it, though."

Was driving off the exit of pit road and into turn one as rough in the car as it looked like on television?

"You definitely feel how rough it is, and at full speed you feel it even more. I find that we hit the splitter harder down the straightaway at tracks like Pocono (Raceway) than we did in the corners. The splitter really limits the travel which makes for a pretty rough ride."

Are you concerned with the speeds that you might hit now that the track has been repaved?

"It's all relative, actually. The speeds will be higher because the grip will be better, and barring any parts failure you should be able to stop better that you did before. A lot will depend on what kind of tires Goodyear brings for us to use. I am curious to see how turn one will be now. Turn one was really wide and depending on how well your car is handling you used to be able to run all over the place. I am hoping that is still the case, but we'll have to see when we get there for the open test on Wednesday."

The last time you raced at Pocono Raceway you got a top-10 finish. Do you feel like you can build off of that, or is it a whole new animal now?

"Unfortunately, we'll be starting from scratch when we unload there this year. So much of what we do is based on how the tires are, and with a new surface we'll have to learn everything all over again."

The Last Time By ... Harvick and the No. 29 team raced to a fifth-place finish in last year's 500 mile event at Pocono Raceway while battling handling issues and overcoming a 32nd-place starting position.

In the Rearview Mirror: FedEx 400 Benefiting Autism Speaks ... Harvick and the No. 29 Jimmy John's team brought home a second-place finish at the "Monster Mile" last Sunday afternoon after overcoming a pit road mishap and battling a loose-handling Chevrolet during the 400-lap affair.

KEVIN HARVICK QUOTES:

How do you think the repave will change things at Pocono Raceway?

"I haven't been there since they repaved it, but obviously it's going to be really fast and I think they have put a lot of effort into making the race track safer with the barriers all around the track. Just to see that type of effort from the race track and the commitment they have for the sport is pretty cool. There is going to be a lot to learn over the first couple of days of testing, and as we go into the third day of practice hopefully we will have it figured out on the Rheem Chevrolet."

How do you think the shortened distance of the race will change things?

"I think the shortened distance of the race will probably not change a whole lot, to tell you the truth. There are really short pit windows at Pocono (Raceway) anyway, and that's what I focus on. So for me it won't change a whole lot."

JEFF BURTON QUOTES:

Share your thoughts on Pocono Raceway deciding to repave its asphalt surface.

"It was time to repave. The quality of racing will be much better because of the pavement and the race will also only be 400 miles. The grip level had gotten so far down that it was hard to keep everyone running a similar speed. Drivers got spread out a lot on a big track like that. To me, it was the track that needed the new pavement the most".

How much do you think changing the race to 400 miles will make it a better race?

"I think a 100-mile cutback is a great idea for Pocono Raceway. I think it would be a great idea for some other race tracks too. There is no reason to run a 500-mile race just because that's the way we've always done it. You need to run the kind of races that put on the best shows for the fans. There seems to be positive feedback from the fans on the decision to run 400 miles at Pocono. I think it will be a good race for many reasons, not just the fact it is 400 miles."

Talk about the speeds you all carry going into turn one at Pocono Raceway. How much that will change with the new asphalt?

"You will be smoking going to into turn one, that's for sure. The grip level will also be better. Let me tell you, going into turn one at Pocono Raceway is always an event. There is a lot of stuff going on in there. You are going so fast into the corner where you aren't supposed to go that fast. It will be interesting to see what happens now that we are going faster, but I think the transition will be quick and the grip level will make it smoother than what it used to be."

Talk about the old pit road entrance at Pocono Raceway.

"I hope they fixed that (laughter). The access roads and pit road entrances at Pocono Raceway were repaved about six years ago and they didn't do any grating. They just laid some asphalt. It was so unbelievably rough. It was just time for a complete repave. It needed an update and I'm glad they did it. I think it will make the racing better and everyone will feel better going there. It's a fun race track and I enjoy going there, but it was time for an update."

BRENDAN GAUGHAN QUOTES:

You've won at Texas Motor Speedway on four previous occasions. Is this one of your favorite tracks?

"Texas (Motor Speedway) feels different than any other race track because of all the history there. It's a great feeling knowing I've been successful here in the past and to have RCR and ECR behind me this time. I think it's an extra confidence booster. On the other hand, if I have a bad race, it makes it all that much worse."

Some say Texas is like a second home for you. What are your thoughts on this?

"The speedway is near one of my mother's horse ranches. We spent a lot of time there as a kid. My family likes to be known as a bunch of cowboys, so it's important for me to run well there. I think next to our hometown track in Las Vegas, Texas (Motor Speedway) is the most important track on the Camping World Truck Series schedule to my parents."

TY DILLON QUOTES:

You earned a third-place finish at Texas Motor Speedway last November in your second Camping World Truck Series start. What did you learn during that race that will help you this weekend?

"I learned a lot about how the truck handles in traffic and how to get around the track. Austin (Dillon) and Joey (Coulter) were a big help in getting me comfortable before the race. We'll go back with some good notes and hope to have another strong performance."

After racing the NASCAR Nationwide Series last weekend at Dover International Speedway, will it be difficult to adjust to racing in the truck?

"I don't think it will be too much of a change. I was able to adjust between the car and the truck on Friday. You just have to be careful at how much speed you carry when entering the corner. In a truck, you can carry more speed but in a car, you have to slow down just a little bit since they don't have as much downforce."

Event Preview Fact Sheet

This Week's Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet at Texas Motor Speedway ... Joey Coulter will pilot chassis No. 024 from the Richard Childress Racing NASCAR Camping World Truck Series stable for Friday's Texas 400. This chassis was built new for the 2012 season and was utilized once at Charlotte Motor Speedway in May. Coulter started that race from the third position and finished seventh.

Coulter at Texas ... Coulter has two previous starts at the 1.5-mile speedway in the Camping World Truck Series, both occurring during the 2011 season. In the spring event, Coulter finished fifth and followed with a sixth-place finish in the fall. Additionally, he has one start at the Fort Worth, Texas-based facility in the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards.

Get to the Points ... After his 11th-place finish at Dover International Speedway, Coulter remains 10th in the Camping World Truck Series driver championship point standings. He is 57 points behind leader Justin Lofton.

Six Races In... More than a quarter of the way through the 2012 season, Coulter ranks third in Fastest Drivers Early in a Run according to NASCAR's Season-to-Date Loop Data Statistics. He is sixth in Fastest Laps Run and fourth in Quality Passes.

Rewind: Dover ... After starting from the second position at Dover International Speedway, Coulter battled a tight-handling condition on the No. 22 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet. Rain became a factor and the race was red flagged just past halfway. When green-flag racing resumed, Coulter was called to the pits by crew chief Harold Holly, and restarted back in traffic. The race was ultimately called on lap 147 of the scheduled 200-lap event due to rain and Coulter was credited with an 11th-place finish.

Meet Coulter ... Coulter is scheduled to sign autographs at the Camping World Truck Series autograph session on Friday, June 8 at 4:30pm Eastern Time at Texas Motor Speedway. He will be joined by RCR teammates Ty Dillon and Brendan Gaughan.

Birthday Boy... Coulter will celebrate his 22nd birthday by making his 32nd Camping World Truck Series career-start in the Texas 400.

JOEY COULTER QUOTES:

With two top-10 finishes in your first two starts at Texas Motor Speedway, how do you prepare this weekend to go for your third?

"I prepare just like I would for any other race. This track has been good for us in the past. We'll use that success and our notes from those races to help us in our team preparations for this weekend. Good finishes like those give us good momentum heading into the race weekend."

How do you transition from Dover International Speedway, a one-mile concrete oval, to Texas Motor Speedway, a 1.5-mile intermediate-style track?

"At Dover (International Speedway), you really get the sensation for speed, so it makes you feel like you're going a lot faster than you really are. Texas (Motor Speedway) is a fast track and a lot of fun to race. The two tracks are very different with different driving styles."
