Ty Dillon and the GEICO Racing Team Heading West to Kansas Speedway

News and Notes

Follow the Yellow Brick Road – With just five races remaining in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series (MENCS) season, Ty Dillon and the GEICO Racing team are heading west to race at Kansas Speedway for the second and final time of 2019. The No. 13 Camaro ZL1 will take to the 1.5-mile tri-oval on Friday for two practice sessions, before qualifying on Saturday afternoon at 1:35 p.m. ET. The green flag for the Hollywood Casino 400 is scheduled to wave at 2:30 p.m. ET on Sunday, October 20.

Return to White – After sporting a throwback scheme to his grandfather’s 1969 design one week ago, Dillon will once again return to his primary white and blue colors for this weekend’s event at Kansas Speedway. In addition, Dillon won the ARCA Menards Series race at Kansas in 2010.

The Glen Elder, Kansas native is a graduate of Kansas State, where Kincheloe earned a degree in criminal justice. After starting a career in law enforcement, Kincheloe moved to North Carolina to pursue his dream of working in the motorsports industry. Rearview Mirror – Last week at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway, Dillon and the Germain Racing team hit the high banks for the final restrictor plate race of the year. Having achieved much success at plate tracks this season and throughout his career, Dillon put his driving skills on display once again as the 27-year-old made it through each of the three major big ones to keep his GEICO Camaro ZL1 damage-free. Restarting from the third position for the green-white-checkered finish, Dillon pushed eventual race winner Ryan Blaney to the lead before falling victim to a lack of drafting help. Despite this, the No. 13 brought home a 10th-place finish, the team’s third top-10 of the season.

Meet Dillon – Want to meet Dillon before the green flag waves on Sunday, October 20? At 10:20 a.m. CT, Dillon will stop by the GEICO Stage in the Midway to chat, answer questions and sign autographs. From the Driver’s Seat: Quotes from Ty Dillon

Is Kansas Speedway just like every other mile and a half track that we go to throughout the season?
“No, it’s definitely changing quite a bit, from being able to run from the white line on the bottom all the way up to the wall. Even this past race in the spring, we raced right up against the wall most of the time. Kansas is becoming quite unique compared to most of the cookie cutter mile and a half tracks that we run and that’s a good thing. I look forward to getting back and I think this package fits that track pretty well.”

When you go back to a track for the second time with this package, how much better are the cars based on what you learned the first time?
“I think our team has a little better handle of what we need out of our race cars as far as the build – whether we need more grip or more speed when going back. We didn’t really pick the right combination the first time this season, so we look forward to going back and I think our combination is going to be much better. Our package has been better at these last few intermediate tracks, so I think we will have a great opportunity this weekend.”
