Denny Hamlin sets a new track record at Dover

The superstars of the NASCAR Monster Energy Series were on track today qualifying for the Drydene 400 which will be run tomorrow at 2:30PM.

Drivers found themselves on edge throughout the qualifying session attempting to get the most out of each lap. Most drivers commented on the difficulty of this track with the exception of Jimmie Johson whose success at Dover has come naturally. Johnson ended up 11th at the end of qualifying.

Denny Hamlin who will be making his 500th start on Sunday set a fast lap to pace the field early in the session, despite Hamlin admitting his struggles at Dover in contrast to the success he has found at most tracks.

Several drivers came close posting fast laps, including Kyle Larson who was within three thousands of a second, but it was Hamlin on the pole with a new track record, and his second pole award this season.

Top 10: Denny Hamlin, Kyle Larson, Martin Truex Jr., Kevin Harvick, Chase Elliot, William Byron, Aric Almirola, Erik Jones, Kurt Busch, Ryan Blaney.
