Half a Million Raised at 13th Annual Jimmie Johnson Foundation Golf Tournament, presented by the Mitchell Family Foundation

Following the NASCAR race weekend at the Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway Roval, Jimmie Johnson hosted the 13th Annual Jimmie Johnson Foundation Golf Tournament at Quail Hollow Club on Monday, September 30, 2019. The event generated $500,000 to fund grants to K-12 public schools.

“Chani (wife) and I are so thankful for our continued partnership with the Mitchell Family Foundation,” Johnson said. “When we cultivate long-lasting relationships with partners and sponsors, it’s amazing what we can achieve to benefit K-12 public education.”

The tournament, which in thirteen years has raised more than $8 million, benefits the Jimmie Johnson Foundation Champions Grant program. The grants range from $20,000-$75,000 and are distributed to K-12 public schools in Chandra and Jimmie Johnson’s hometowns in California and Oklahoma, and where they currently reside in North Carolina.

“My family and I take great pride in giving back” Mark Mitchell said. “We feel it is our responsibility to do so.  In partnership with the Jimmie Johnson Foundation, we are able to broaden our reach and make an impact on K-12 public education.”

Johnson, the seven-time NASCAR Cup Series Champion, hosted approximately 75 golfers at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina for Monday’s event.

Recipients of the 2019 Champions Grant program will be announced later in the year.
