Whitt Takes the Checkers 28th at Las Vegas Motor Speedway

Stage 1
Cole Whitt qualified 34th to start the Pennzoil 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway
 
Lap 10: Running 33rd, Whitt relayed the handling of the No. 72 was edgy and really loose
 
Lap 30: Whitt was posted in the 33rd position, one lap down from the leader. He stated the No. 72 had no grip or side force
 
As green flag pit stops were underway, Whitt was posted as high as sixth on the leaderboard. As the field cycled through stops, Whitt pitted for four tires, fuel and an air pressure adjustment. He rejoined the field 33rd, two laps down
 
Stage 1 Completion Caution Lap 80: Whitt completed the stage 33rd, two laps down from the leader. He relayed the No. 72 was really loose and edgy. Crew Chief Frank Kerr made the call to keep Whitt out on track to take the wave around
 
 
Stage 2
Whitt took the Stage 2 green flag restart 31st, one lap down
 
Lap 113: Whitt continued to experience the same conditions. Under green flag, he came in for four tires and fuel. He returned to the field 32nd, three laps down
 
Lap 135: Experiencing a bad vibration, Whitt came to pit under green for four tires and fuel. He cycled back to the field33rd, four laps down
 
Stage 2 Completion Caution Lap 180: Whitt completed the stage 33rd, four laps down. He stayed out to take the wave around and gain track position
 
Stage 3
Whitt was scored 32nd, three laps down for the start of Stage 3
 
Caution Lap 177 (incident): Whitt was posted 32nd, three laps down on the leaderboard. He pitted for four tires, fuel and air pressure adjustment. He restarted 30th, three laps down. The field took the green flag restart on Lap 182 when a caution flag came out on Lap 184 for an incident. Have just pitted during the previous caution, Whitt stayed out on track

Whitt took the green flag restart 28th, three laps down. He maintained that position for the final laps securing the finish in Pennzoil 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway
