Whitt Secures 28th in the No. 72 at Atlanta Motor Speedway

Cole Whitt qualified 32nd to start the Folds of Honor Quicktrip 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway

 

Lap 10: Running 33rd, Whitt relayed he was loose in, tight in the center and loose off

 

Competition Caution Lap 30: Whitt was posted in the 30th position. He pitted for four tires, fuel and a wedge adjustment. He restarted 30th

 

Stage 1 Completion Caution Lap 85: Whitt completed the stage 28th, one lap down from the leader. He relayed the No. 72 was really loose and falling off. Crew Chief Frank Kerr called him to pit for four tires, fuel, a half rubber out of the right rear, a wedge adjustment and repairs to the lower left rear quarter panel

 

 

Whitt took the Stage 2 green flag restart 32nd, one lap down

 

Lap 123: Whitt continued to experience the same conditions reporting it had worsened. He stated he was loose, lacking forward drive and was sideways. Under green flag, he came in for four tires, fuel, and wedge adjustments. He returned to the field 32nd, two laps down

 

Caution Lap 160 (spin): Whitt had fallen three laps down from the leader. Crew Chief Frank Kerr opted to keep Whitt out on track to take the wave around. He took the green flag restart scored 29th, two laps down

 

Stage 2 Completion Caution Lap 170: Whitt completed the stage 30th, two laps down. He came to pit for four tires, fuel, packer out of the left front, rubber in the left rear and a round of wedge in the right rear of the No. 72

 

Whitt was scored 30th, two laps down for the start of Stage 3

 

As Stage 3 became a long green flag run, competitors were forced to make green flag pit stops. The No. 72 continued to be loose. Whitt came to pit on lap 217 for four tires, fuel and wedge adjustment. He rejoined the field 33rd, four laps down

 

Lap 264: Whitt pitted again under green flag for four tires, fuel and two rounds of wedge in the left rear. He cycled back 33rd, five laps down

 

Caution Lap 298 (fuel on track): Whitt was posted 30th on the leaderboard and stayed out to take the wave around

 

Whitt took the green flag restart 28th, four laps down. He maintained that position for the final laps securing the finish in the Folds of Honor Quicktrip 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway.
