Food City, NASCAR Legend Richard Petty and RTIC Coolers Team Up to Help Veterans

Today, Paralyzed Veterans of America (Paralyzed Veterans) kicked off the seventh year of its partnership with Food City and NASCAR Champion and Hall of Fame Inductee, Richard Petty, to continue the mission of raising critical funds for Paralyzed Veterans of America through quick and easy donations at Food City supermarkets across the region.

“Paralyzed Veterans of America is fortunate to have this longstanding partnership with Food City, and we are thankful for the support they’ve shown us in the seven years since we launched this effort,” said David Zurfluh, national president of Paralyzed Veterans. “Through the generosity of Food City customers, we’ve been able to provide the most vulnerable contingent of veterans with access to quality healthcare, fulfilling careers and the Department of Veterans Affairs benefits they have earned through their service and sacrifice to our nation. We can only provide veterans, their families and their caregivers with these services free-of-cost because we have partners like Food City and RTIC Coolers beside us; and the enduring support of friends like Richard Petty.”

The fundraising campaign, which will be featured throughout Food City’s retail supermarket chain, begins July 5, 2017 and continues through August 1, 2017. Specially marked $1, $3 and $5 donation slips will be available at checkouts. Customers wishing to make a contribution simply need to select the desired dollar amount and it will be conveniently added to their order total.

This year, new partner RTIC Coolers joins the team with a pledge of $25,000 to launch the campaign with a healthy start. “As the son of a veteran, I have a special appreciation for the service and selfless sacrifice given to our country by all veterans. It is a privilege and an honor to partner with Food City and Richard Petty to support Paralyzed Veterans of America’s Mission: ABLE campaign,” said John Jacobsen, Founder & CEO of RTIC Coolers, LLC.

“I’m a proud supporter of the the Paralyzed Veterans of America and their Mission: ABLE campaign,” said Richard Petty. “This is an important campaign that Food City, RTIC Coolers and I support, as we give back to our paralyzed veterans who deserve to be recognized for their sacrifices.”

One hundred percent of the donations collected during the one-month campaign will benefit Paralyzed Veterans of America’s Mission: ABLE campaign, which is a dedicated effort to create an America where our most severely injured heroes have access to what they’ve earned and deserve:  CARE, JOBS AND BENEFITS.

“Thanks to the support and generosity of our loyal customers, in the past six years, we have raised more than $800,000 to benefit Paralyzed Veterans of America,” said Steven C. Smith, Food City president and chief executive officer. “We’re proud to have another opportunity to partner with Richard Petty and Paralyzed Veterans’ Mission: ABLE campaign in support of such a worthy cause.”
