Circle Sport – Leavine Family Racing carrying momentum into Kansas

NASCAR driver Michael McDowell and Circle Sport – Leavine Family Racing (CSLFR) are looking to pick up where they left off last weekend heading into Kansas Speedway after recording a 14th place finish at Charlotte Motor Speedway this past Sunday.

The 2016 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) season marks both McDowell and CSLFR’s best season to date, as together they have recorded one Top-10, three Top-15’s and three Top-20 finishes.

“Our finish at Charlotte was our best finish at a mile and a half track, and we also had our best car there,” said CSLFR owner Bob Leavine.  “Top-15 finishes like that are difficult for a small team, and we are proud of those moments, but we are also looking at the big picture of continuity and carrying that momentum over to Kansas.”

McDowell felt so comfortable with his Charlotte car, that the team decided to use it as the primary for Kansas Speedway this weekend.  The car that was the Kansas primary will now be the back-up.

“We are definitely going into Kansas with some momentum from Charlotte,” said McDowell. “We’ve been working really hard on our mile and a half program and Charlotte was a great test for that. We learned a lot during the Bank of America 500, and we’re looking forward to applying that at Kansas.”

During the Kansas Speedway race weekend, McDowell and primary sponsor Thrivent Financial are teaming up with Cotton Incorporated’s Blue Jeans Go Green campaign called “Recycle Your Denim.”

Through the “Recycle Your Denim” campaign fans are being asked to bring pairs of jeans or other denim items they wish to contribute to Kansas Speedway, where they can drop them off on Sunday at collection locations in the Midway, infield or entrances.

A special paint scheme will be featured on the No. 95 Thrivent Financial Chevrolet SS to support this initiative in the Hollywood Casino 400.
