Crash Mars Potential Top 10 Finish for Motorcraft/Quick Lane Team in Charlotte

Ryan Blaney and the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Racing team were well on their way to a possible top-10 finish when they were involved in a wreck with fewer than 100 laps remaining in the Bank of America 500 at Charlotte Motor Speedway, resulting in a 31st-place finish

Running in the top 15 all day, even turning several laps in the top 10, Blaney was an innocent victim when Chase Elliott spun during a lap-257 re-start, crossed the track and got into the front end of the Wood Brothers’ famous No. 21 Ford.

The Motorcraft/Quick Lane crew made extensive repairs to the splitter bar and radiator pan and sent Blaney back to the track in  31st place, 25 laps down. The rookie wheelman finished the day in the same position 27 laps behind the winner.

“We spent a lot of time in the top 10 and we were on the way to a solid day,” said crew chief Jeremy Bullins after the race. “The track was changing and we’d just made some adjustments that we felt good about but never got the opportunity to try.”

Blaney maintained his hold on 20th place in the driver points standings.
