With a compressed schedule of events for Saturday after Tropical Storm Hermine blew through the Darlington area on Friday NASCAR opted to move all events to Saturday.
Early in the first practice that was led by Johnson at 176.025 followed close behind by Hamlin at nearly a mile slower running 175.060 with the Wood Brothers Ford of Blaney closely behind at 174.711. At least three teams tagging the wall in the first practice getting their first Darlington stripe of the weekend one of those being Kyle Busch.
Final practice finished up with Keselowski pacing the field with a speed of 174.649 over again second fast Kurt Busch at 174.031 rounding out the top five Johnson 174.019, Kahne 173.656 and Menard at 173.454.
