Persistence & Patience Plays Key Role in McDowell’s Career

Being a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver can have its challenges, but driver of the No. 95 Thrivent Financial Chevrolet SS, Michael McDowell, has found that having a balance between being persistent and patient can lead to success both on and off the race track.

“I’m definitely persistent in my career,” said McDowell. “That’s why I feel like I’m still racing.  Not taking no for an answer has really shaped my career. I never let my mindset be ‘Oh this isn’t going to work out’ or ‘That can’t happen.’ A lot of things can get done by working hard and being persistent.”

“At the same time patience is key in it, especially at tracks like Bristol,” he continued. “You can’t get agitated and crash somebody because you crash yourself in that process. You need to be aggressive and persistent out there but also have patience. You have to work hard for success there, and that’s something that carries over into other aspects of my life as well.”

Race fans can share how persistence and patience have motivated their lives through Thrivent Racing’s new inspirational message program at www.ThriventRacing.com.
