RCR Post Race Report – Sonoma 350

Austin Dillon and the No. 3 Dow Racing Team Earn 22nd-Place Finish at Sonoma Raceway

“It’s not the finish we wanted, but I’m proud of my Dow Polyurethane and Utility Trailer guys. They never gave up. Passing was pretty difficult today so restarts were important. On the second to last restart, I went off course a little and lost quite a few positions. The guys said to go for it, so that’s what I was trying to do. I hate that I lost a few positions on that restart because we were never able to make up the positions before the end of the race. It’s ok because we’re in this together and we’ll be back stronger for the next road course race at Watkins Glen International in a few weeks.”

First road course race of 2015 ends with the No. 27 Richmond/Menards Chevrolet Team in 16th place

“We were optimistic heading into today’s race in Sonoma. The guys worked hard all weekend and we made some gains on this Richmond/Menards Chevy. It really showed on Saturday when we went out and qualified ninth. Today’s race didn’t go quite as planned. We had a strategy in place, but that second caution came out and threw us off. The car was handling well, but could’ve handled better in Turn 10 and the low-speed corners. We fought that all day. Overall it’s been a good weekend. I have to thank my guys for all their work.”

Ryan Newman Cruises to Eighth-Place Finish at Sonoma Raceway in the WIX Filters Chevrolet

“We started the race off a little loose in the left-hand turns and a little tight in the right-hand turns but my crew chief Luke Lambert and the WIX Filters team fixed me up during the first and second pit stops of the day. We made contact with the soft wall outside Turn 4 towards the end of the race but didn’t really sustain any damage. I think those last couple of caution flags helped cool our tires down and we were able to pick up an extra few spots before the end of the race. Overall it was a good day for the WIX Filters Chevrolet team.”
