Top-25 Finish For Ty Dillon in NSCS Michigan Race for CSLFR

Ty Dillon secured a Top-25 finish in the FireKeepers Casino 400 at Michigan International Speedway (MIS), but was looking for a better result in his second career NASCAR Sprint Cup Series start at the track.

Dillon has several starts at Michigan across NASCAR’s top three premier series, and has always finished in the Top-15.  He won the 2011 ARCA Racing Series race at MIS.

“Today was an OK day for our No. 95 Red Kap/Nexteer Chevy,” said Dillon after the race.  “The car had speed throughout most of the race and I was able to race inside the Top-20. We gained a lot of positions on the restarts, which are important to capitalize on at tracks like Michigan.”

Dillon, an XFINITY Series regular who is competing part-time with the No. 95 team, qualified 21st and raced within the Top-20 for a good portion of the 200-lap race.  Unfortunately, during the last green flag run, his car was loose and he fell back a few positions to take the checkered flag in 24th place.

“In the end, it probably would have helped to take fresh tires during the last caution, but hindsight is always twenty-twenty,” said Dillon.  “The biggest plus from today was we stayed out of trouble and kept the car clean and finished on the lead lap. I’m grateful for the opportunity to race today and log some more laps; all a part of the learning process.”

Circle Sport-Leavine Family Racing will race at Sonoma Raceway on Sunday, June 26 with driver Michael McDowell back behind the wheel of the No. 95 Chevrolet. Fans can follow the race team on Twitter at @CSLFR95 for updates.
