Interstate Batteries Reveals 25th Anniversary Paint Scheme for Bojangles’ Southern 500 at Darlington

With the help of reigning NASCAR Sprint Cup champion Kyle Busch and 1999 NASCAR champion Dale Jarrett, Interstate Batteries revealed today at the NASCAR Hall of Fame the paint scheme that will appear on the No. 18 Interstate Batteries Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR) Toyota for the Bojangles’ Southern 500 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race Sept. 6 at Darlington Raceway in South Carolina. The paint scheme Busch will race is a replica of the original design Jarrett raced to victory in the 1993 Daytona 500 at Daytona International Speedway – the first ever Sprint Cup Series win for JGR and Interstate Batteries.

In addition to appearing on the No. 18 entry for Jarrett’s Daytona 500 victory, the Interstate Batteries scheme was run for the first two years of JGR’s foray into NASCAR’s top series during the 1992 and 1993 seasons.

The 2016 NASCAR season marks the 25th anniversary for JGR and its relationship with founding partner Interstate Batteries. Joining Busch and Jarrett at the Hall of Fame were team owner Joe Gibbs and Interstate Batteries chairman Norm Miller.
