Johnson Tops Extended Sprint Cup Practice at Richmond

With rain that came into the Richmond area on Friday and the field set for the Toyota Owners 400 by the rulebook NASCAR gave teams as little extra practice this morning to shake down the cars. With an 80 minute session Johnson will take his Lowes machine to the top of the board with a lap of 120.489mph.

Stewart would finish final practice session battling a loose car in the 23rd spot with a speed of 118.614. Team mate and pole sitter Harvick would run fourth and Kurt Busch would run the most laps in the session rounding out in 12th who is also the defending winner of the spring event here at Richmond.  

Busch would go on to state that after running three sets of tires that the track is rubbering much different than a year ago.

On the rookie side of things Blaney and the Wood Brothers who are making a return to the Richmond area track for the first time since 2008 finished up the day in 13th. While Rookie of the Year points standing leader Elliott would finish up seven spots behinds in 20th.
