FS1 announces specials for Speedweeks

Can you imagine 100,000 cameras covering a single race?

That’s what FS1 will have at the Daytona 500 — with a huge assist from fans in the grandstands.

FS1 is encouraging race fans — whether at the track, at a tailgate, on the way to Daytona or at their neighborhood bar — to use their cameras and mobile devices to capture and share their Daytona 500 experiences.

The result, a 30-minute special featuring fan – and driver-generated video, will air under the title “100,000 Cameras: Daytona” at 6:30 p.m. ET on Feb. 27, after the network’s coverage of the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

During Speedweeks at Daytona, FS1 will augment coverage of the Sprint Unlimited and the Great American Race with special programming. “Untold Stories: Daytona” (Friday, Feb. 12 at 7:30 p.m. ET) offers a fresh perspective and details involving the history of Daytona International Speedway.

Narrated by Dale Earnhardt Jr., “NASCAR Race Classic: 1993 Daytona 500” (Friday, Feb. 12 at 8:30 p.m. ET) is a condensed version of the milestone victory for Dale Jarrett, complete with pop-up trivia throughout. “Beyond the Wheel” (Friday, Feb. 12 at 9 p.m. ET) is a 90-minute special that features four short documentaries highlighting some of the sport’s most interesting traditions and fascinating historical characters.

In addition, a NASCAR Race Hub Special on Thursday, Jan. 28 at 5 p.m. ET will give viewers a first look at the completed $400-million Daytona Rising project, two days before the start of the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona — the first event in the transformed facility.
