Thrivent Financial Donates $95,000 to Habitat For Humanity through Race Fan Program

Thrivent Financial and Leavine Family Racing are proud to announce that the Driven To Thrive – To 95! promotion has culminated with a $95,000 donation to Habitat for Humanity.

Officials from Thrivent Financial and Habitat for Humanity International along with Michael McDowell, driver of the No. 95 Thrivent Financial Ford, made the announcement today at Homestead-Miami Speedway in conjunction with the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season finale race.

“We can’t thank NASCAR fans enough for being a part of this $95,000 donation to Habitat for Humanity,” said Craig Stacey, Director of Content Marketing at Thrivent Financial.  “We’re thrilled by the impressive support of race fans across the nation who participated in the Driven To Thrive – To 95! online game. Seeing social media posts about the donations they uncovered and prizes they won was really cool. And we’re especially excited to have our Grand Prize winner with us at Homestead this weekend to enjoy this season finale race.”

Kris Werges from Decorah, Iowa, won the Grand Prize of a trip for two to the championship race at Homestead-Miami Speedway including the opportunity to meet McDowell and the LFR race team.

Throughout the race season, McDowell and the Leavine Family Racing team had the chance to participate in Thrivent Builds events in race markets by helping with critical home repairs for an elderly homeowner in Hickory, N.C. and a Habitat family in Indianapolis.

“There is nothing more rewarding than to be able to serve and give back to the community,” said McDowell.  “We’ve been blessed to be a part of Thrivent Builds projects this year with our race team and sponsor. Our entire team is proud to end this race season with a $95,000 donation to Habitat for Humanity on behalf of the race fans who participated in the program and our sponsor, Thrivent Financial.”

Thrivent is the largest non-governmental supporter of Habitat through a unique partnership called Thrivent Builds with Habitat for Humanity. Thrivent and Habitat are celebrating the 10th anniversary of this partnership, which has resulted in more than 4,000 homes built or repaired in the U.S. and abroad and 4.4 million volunteer hours contributed by Thrivent Financial member volunteers.

“We are grateful to Thrivent Financial for its generous donation through the Driven To Thrive – To 95! program,” said Larry Gluth, senior vice president, Habitat for Humanity International. “Because of our partnership and this exciting Thrivent Racing program, more families will have a safe, decent, affordable place to call home.”

The online game rewarded fans for playing by triggering a donation from Thrivent Financial to Habitat for Humanity, awarding instant win prizes like autographed hero cards and diecast cars and entering all players into the Grand Prize sweepstakes.

Thrivent Financial is the primary sponsor of Leavine Family Racing and its No. 95 entry in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series piloted by veteran race car driver Michael McDowell.  Fans can tune-in to watch the Thrivent Racing team compete in the season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway on Nov. 22 at 3 p.m. ET on NBC.
