YWCA High Point Honored by Nathan’s Famous, Harris Teeter and American Icon Richard Petty

Smithfield Foods, licensee of Nathan’s Famous pre-packaged hot dogs, announced today that the world-famous hot dog company and NASCAR Hall of Fame driver Richard Petty honored the YWCA High Point in High Point, N.C., for being leaders in the community and making active play possible on Sunday before the race at Martinsville Speedway.

As part of its Ready. Set. PLAY. initiative with national non-profit KaBOOM!, Petty surprised representatives from the YWCA with a $1,000 Harris Teeter gift card towards the purchase of groceries, courtesy of Nathan’s Famous.

Guests from YWCA High Point were greeted at the speedway by the Richard Petty Motorsports team and escorted to the garage area to meet the Hall of Famer. Petty then surprised the group with the $1,000 gift card. Those in attendance stayed at the famed race track to watch Richard Petty Motorsports driver, Aric Almirola, race in Sunday’s event.

The Ready. Set. PLAY. initiative is a partnership created in 2014 by Nathan’s Famous with KaBOOM!. Ready. Set. PLAY. celebrates play and the local leaders who are making active play possible in communities across the nation.

KaBOOM! worked with the YWCA High Point for a playground build in 2011.
