Biffle Rebounds from Early Accident to Finish 26th at Martinsville

Martinsville Speedway provided plenty of short-track racing action as the 500-lap race saw a total of 18 cautions.  Unfortunately damage from one of the early cautions would plague Biffle the entire race as his front end was damaged when the field bunched up on a restart.  Despite multiple pit stops for repairs, some handling issues remained and as a result caused Biffle to spin out on the track multiple times, but he was still able to salvage a 26th-place finish in his No. 16 Ford By Design Ford Fusion.

Rain in the Martinsville area threatened the race but in the end it was a setting sun that had everyone’s attention.  NASCAR ran the opening laps under caution due to rain throughout the morning and Biffle started 25th in his No. 16 Ford By Design Ford Fusion.  It wasn’t long before the field was under green and racing daylight to get in 500 laps.

From the start, Biffle reported back that he needed more turn in which he was serviced with air pressure and wedge adjustments which all seemed to help the handling on the No. 16.  On a restart, a car up ahead didn’t get going which had an accordion effect through the field and caused severe front end damage to Biffle’s Ford.

Multiple pit stops cleared the bumper bar from the tires and got the hood and nose back where Biffle could maneuver his way around the track.  The handling was never quite the same and Biffle spun a few times over the rest of the race and ultimately settled for a 26th-place finish.
