Danica Patrick Pretty in Pink

Once again this weekend for Saturday’s Bank of America 500 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway, Danica Patrick’s normally green Chevrolet turns pink in honor of breast cancer awareness. It’s part of a month-long program for Patrick and the No. 10 GoDaddy Chevrolet SS team for Stewart-Haas Racing (SHR) in support of GoDaddy’s annual “Put the Brakes on Breast Cancer” campaign.

Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women, according to the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF). The goal of “going pink” is to raise awareness and money and to help support the cause. GoDaddy is donating $50,000 to NBCF, inviting customers to “round up” purchases to the nearest dollar for the charity and matching individual employee contributions up to $500 each.

Over the years, GoDaddy customers have “rounded up” to the tune of more than $1.2 million for various philanthropic organizations. All customers need to do is select the “Round Up” button when checking out with their GoDaddy purchases.

NBCF is recognized as one of the leading breast cancer organizations in the world. Its mission is to help women by inspiring hope to those affected by breast cancer through early detection, education and support services. According to the organization, one in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime. The NBCF’s logo will be featured on the decklid of Patrick’s No. 10 GoDaddy Chevrolet SS throughout the month of October.

GoDaddy has promoted breast cancer awareness since 2010 and the objective of the “Put the Brakes on Breast Cancer” program is to inspire the millions of fans watching Sprint Cup races this month to donate and get regular check-ups.

“For four years now, GoDaddy and Danica Patrick have had a tremendous impact on our mission to help women and inspire hope to those affected by breast cancer,” said NBCF co-founder and CEO, Janelle Hail. “It’s so important to spread the message of early detection and help raise funds that allow us to provide free screenings.”

While Patrick will wear a pink firesuit to match her pink car, she will also don gloves featuring pink accents at Charlotte this weekend. In addition, Patrick will utilize a special pink-accented steering wheel made by Max Papis Innovations in the No. 10 GoDaddy Chevrolet SS and, at the end of October, her steering wheel will be autographed and donated to the NBCF for auction.

Patrick enters the weekend at Charlotte with two top-10s and 10 top-20 finishes so far this season. She will be making her seventh Sprint Cup start at the 1.5-mile oval. Patrick’s career-best finish at the track is a 20th-place effort she earned in October 2013. Her best Xfinity Series finish there is an 11th-place result she scored in October 2012.

Last fall, Patrick finished 26th in the Bank of America 500 and, in May, she earned a 22nd-place effort in the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte.

As she returns to the track this weekend, Patrick and the No. 10 GoDaddy Chevrolet SS team will be “Pretty in Pink” and looking to improve upon their recent finishes at the track in addition to promoting GoDaddy’s efforts to support the NBCF.
