Brian Scott Finishes 22nd at Chicagoland Speedway

Brian Scott and the No. 33 Jewel-Osco/Kraft Velveeta Chevrolet started the MyAFibRisk.com 400 in the 21st position after rain washed out NASCAR Sprint Cup Series qualifying on Friday afternoon and set the starting lineup per the NASCAR rule book. Early in the 267-lap event, Scott reported loose-handling conditions that were addressed with an air pressure adjustment during a green-flag pit stop on lap 52. Scott was running in the 17th position when he made slight contact with the wall on lap 75. The field was brought under caution on lap 125 allowing Scott to bring his Jewel-Osco/Kraft Velveeta machine to pit road for adjustments. Scott was scored in the 21st position, one lap short to the leader and battling front-end grip from the contact earlier in the race. After another restart on lap 144, Scott once again made contact with the wall suffering damage to the right-front fender and fell to the 26th position. The Boise, Idaho native regained positions during the next 50 laps through pit stop cycles and was raced in the 20th position with 70 laps to go. The Jewel-Osco / Kraft Velveeta Chevrolet battled for positions with the tight-handling conditions for the remainder of the race finishing in the 22nd position.

BRIAN SCOTT QUOTE:

“We were loose to start, but once I made contact with the wall we just lost all front-end grip. I can’t hit the wall and expect results. We’ll hope for better results at Kansas Speedway.”
