NSCS: Brad Keselowski Captures Darlington Raceway Pole

Brad Keselowski captured the 66th annual Bojangles’ Southern 500 pole at the Darlington Raceway on Saturday. Keselowski posted a lap of 27.492 seconds, 178.874 mph. in the final round of Sprint Cup Series qualifying. The Michigan native will start on the pole for the first time of the 2015 season.

Starting right beside Keselowski will be Kurt Busch in the No. 41 Haas Automation Chevrolet in the runner-up spot. Busch posted a time of 27.691 seconds, 177.588 mph. in the final round of knockout qualifying. The Las Vegas native will use the run as momentum as he will go for his 28th career Sprint Cup Series victory.

Kevin Harvick posted the third fastest time behind the wheel of the No. 4 throwback Budweiser paint scheme. Harvick ran only one lap in the final round of qualifying to post a time of 27.718 seconds, 177.415 mph. The California native comes into the weekend looking to capture his third win of the season.

Danica Patrick got into the wall during the first round of NASCAR Sprint Cup Series qualifying that heavily damaged the right side of the car. The No. 10 Stewart-Haas Racing team has elected to switch to the backup car and will have to start the race on Sunday at the rear of the field. The No. 16 of Greg Biffle also got into the wall during the session. A backup car for Biffle is still being decided.

Josh Wise, Timmy Hill and Travis Kvapil will all not make the race as 46 drivers and teams showed up to qualify.
