In addition to racing more than 200 miles at Sonoma Raceway in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race on Sunday, June 28, Michael McDowell, driver of the No. 95 K-LOVE Radio Ford Fusion will run in a 5K the day prior to support 3Strands Global, a non-profit that focuses on raising awareness and funds to address the issue of human trafficking.
“I met with 3Strands founder Ken Peterson last year at the Sonoma race and got to hear his personal testimony and the burden he had to put an end to human trafficking,” said McDowell. “Honestly, it broke my heart to hear what is happening to these young women and I immediately got involved. It is so humbling and inspiring to have partners like K-LOVE and Thrivent that come alongside an organization like 3Strands to help stop human trafficking and in particular the trafficking of young women.”
K-LOVE Radio and Thrivent Financial, both of Leavine Family Racing’s primary sponsors in 2015, are active with the non-profit as national level sponsors of the Break Free Run events. The Break Free Run is a fundraiser for 3Strands and is comprised of four 5K / 10K races held in Sonoma, San Diego, Folsom and Oakland.
