The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series heads to the Dover International Speedway for the 46th annual FedEx 400 benefiting Autism Speaks. The race will serve as the 13th stop on the series schedule of the 2015 Sprint Cup Series season. Jimmie Johnson comes into the 1-mile oval track as the defending race winner.
A total of 45 drivers are featured on the entry list for the 400-mile race on Sunday afternoon. Some of those drivers include Jeff Green, Mike Bliss, Brian Scott, Travis Kvapil, Brendan Gaughan and Matt DiBenedetto. Two drivers will not make the race on Sunday.
Jimmie Johnson comes into the Dover International Speedway looking to complete a milestone that only four other drivers have done previously. If Johnson is able to put his No. 48 Chevrolet into victory lane on Sunday, he will become only the fifth driver in NASCAR history to score 10 Sprint Cup Series victories at a single track. The short list of drivers who have made the accomplishment include Richard Petty, Darrell Waltrip, Dale Earnhardt and David Pearson.
Martin Truex Jr. comes into his home track still looking to capture a victory for the first time since 2013 at the Sonoma Raceway. Truex knows how to get around the track as he captured his first career Sprint Cup Series win in this race back in 2007. The New Jersey native has three top five and 11 top 10 finishes since the start of the 2015 season.
Carl Edwards comes into the Dover International Speedway on a wave of momentum after his Coca-Cola 600 victory last Sunday at the Charlotte Motor Speedway. Edwards saved just enough fuel to capture his 24th victory in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. In the Sprint All-Star race, nearly two weekends ago, Edwards’s teammate Denny Hamlin took his No. 11 FedEx Toyota to the win. It will be interesting to see if Joe Gibbs Racing can continue the momentum once again.
The FedEx 400 benefiting Autism Speaks will begin Sunday at 1:00 p.m. ET. on FOX Sports 1 and FOX Sports Go. The Motor Racing Network will have the radio call during the race.
