If you plan to attend the Southern 500 at the Darlington Raceway on Labor Day weekend, you will notice something a little strange with the tires being used.
Goodyear announced Wednesday that all Sprint Cup and XFINITY Series teams will run special throwback tires during the weekend at the famous Darlington Raceway. The tires will commemorate the ones used around the 1970’s with white lettering with just the word “Goodyear” on the tire wall.
Goodyear has done special promotions like this in the past. You might remember the special tires that read “Support Our Troops” on the sidewall a couple of years back where you would normally see the word “eagle” there instead.
The special design for the weekend will certainly bring back memories to those who remember these tires being used back in the day. See below for a picture posted by Goodyear Racing’s Twitter feed.
