“Old Faithful” and Travis Kvapil have been reunited.
Kvapil’s Sprint Cup car, which was stolen from a hotel parking lot Friday morning in Atlanta, was found Saturday morning. Gwinnett County (Ga.) police recovered the race car just outside of Atlanta.
A man spotted the Team Xtreme car, valued at $250,000, and called 911, according to Motorsport.com.
The reunion between driver and car did not come soon enough. Kvapil was forced to withdraw from Sunday’s race at Atlanta Motor Speedway.
Team Xtreme owner John Cohen told USA Today that the team plans to race in Las Vegas next week.
Reed Sorenson drove the No. 44 Chevrolet last week in the Daytona 500 and finished 32nd. Kvapil was supposed to drive this week, with Sorenson driving for another team.
