Leavine Family Racing looking for strong finish at Atlanta

Leavine Family Racing is looking for their first great run at Atlanta Motor Speedway this weekend in the Folds of Honor QuickTrip 500.  Last year, the team failed to make the race and in 2013 Scott Speed finished in 43rd position.

Michael McDowell, driver of the No. 95 Thrivent Financial Ford Fusion, has competed at Atlanta Motor Speedway four times in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series with a best start of 23rd and a best finish of 39th.

While the team considered it a “win” to race their way into the Daytona 500 last week, the 31st place finish on Sunday was not what McDowell and the LFR team were looking for.

“We had a fast car and really wanted to show it with a solid finish,” said McDowell.  “The No. 95 Ford got damaged during the last caution flag and we had to spend extra time on pit road for repairs.  When we got back out on the track, we were too far behind the pack in order to contend for positions.  The good news is that we still have our primary superspeedway car in one piece; its fast and we’ll be ready to take it to Talladega.”

Leavine Family Racing is proud to be part of the Ford family and celebrate Joey Logano’s win in the Daytona 500 on Sunday and the Ford sweep of Speedweeks.  McDowell was pleased with the performance of his No. 95 Ford Fusion throughout Speedweeks and had it on top of the speed charts during Practice #2.

Thrivent Financial (www.thrivent.com) will be the primary sponsor of the No. 95 at Atlanta, as part of its 20-race sponsorship of the team in 2015.
