The 25 Sprint Unlimited eligible teams crew chief and fans together drew starting positions for Saturday’s Sprint Unlimited. The driver who drew the first position might come as a surprise to you.
Paul Menard, a native from Wisconsin, will start the event from the pole position. Menard will have his shot to race in the unofficial season opener for the first time since 2012. He started 24th and finished 23rd after getting into a crash. Menard makes the event due to some of the eligible drivers pulling out.
Starting on his outside will be Kasey Kahne in the No. 5 Farmers Insurance Chevrolet for Hendrick Motorsports. Kahne brought home his best finish in the race of second back in 2010. Saturday evening marks his 10th Sprint Unlimited start.
Joey Logano, who finished fourth in the 2014 Sprint Cup Series driver points standings, will roll from the third position once the green flag drops. Logano will make his seventh career start in the Sprint Unlimited. His best finish in the event came back in 2013 of third.
