Jeff Gordon Children’s Foundation and Bob Douglas Partner to Fight Childhood Cancer

Jeff Gordon Children’s Foundation and Bob Douglas of Kihei, Hawaii, have teamed up for the Giving Back matching donation campaign to fight childhood cancer.

The first $100,000 in contributions to the Jeff Gordon Children’s Foundation received between December 2, 2014, and February 22, 2015, will be matched dollar-for-dollar by the generous gift of Douglas.  Since losing his eyesight nearly 50 years ago, Douglas has relied on others for assistance and has spent much of his life giving back. The 79-year-old is an active advocate for people with disabilities and his charitable work spans many local and national organizations.

“This holiday season when giving is at the forefront of our minds, I am asking others to remember the children and families that are currently in treatment or will receive a cancer diagnosis this holiday season and make a donation to support them,” said Douglas.

“Through his generosity, Bob has shown us the true spirit of giving. His gift has allowed us to double our impact in funding promising new cancer research for children battling this disease,” said Gordon.

The incidence of childhood cancer is on the rise, with an average of 43 children diagnosed each day in the United States. All funds raised through the Giving Back matching donation campaign will directly fund pediatric cancer research aimed at age-appropriate and personalized cancer treatments for children.
