Stenhouse Jr. Drives Fastenal Ford to a 22nd-Place Finish in Season Finale

After battling back from being two laps down, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. drove his Fastenal Ford to a 22nd-place finish in the 2014 season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

“I think we could have gotten a few more positions at the end but my Fastenal Ford was just too tight,” Stenhouse said. “I’m proud of my team this season. They never gave up and worked hard every weekend. We obviously have some work to do in the off season but I believe in our organization and our determination to get our cars back to running competitively.”

After battling a car that lacked grip in Friday’s qualifying session, the two-time NASCAR Nationwide champion started Sunday’s Ford Ecoboost 400 in the 22nd position but slowly faded as he battled an ill-handling race car for the first half of the race.

As the race went into the evening, the Fastenal Ford turned deadly loose causing Stenhouse to lose another lap. With numerous late race cautions, the Olive Branch, Miss. native earned the lucky dog spot and was back on the lead lap with 32 laps remaining.

On the final restart, the 2013 NASCAR Sprint Cup Rookie of the Year lined up in the 17th position but lost a few positions in the final laps as he was jockeying for position forcing Stenhouse to settle with a 22nd -place finish.
