Ragan Carries Martinsville Momentum to Texas

David Ragan, driver of the No. 34 Dockside Logistics Ford, comments on his top-10 finish at Martinsville Speedway and on racing at Texas Motor Speedway:

“Last Sunday was a good day for us. To get a top-10 finish was a real shot in the arm for this team and for Front Row Motorsports, and to do it in the Wendell Scott tribute car made it even more special. My crew chief, Derrick Finley, and I talked a lot during the red flag about whether we should pit or stay out. We were sitting in 20th, and we made a plan based on waiting and seeing what everyone in front of us was going to do. Almost everybody pitted, so we stayed out. And it was a gamble that paid off.

“Hopefully we can carry that momentum to Texas. I’m a big fan of Texas Motor Speedway. It’s a big, fast racetrack. The surface is aging well, but the tires do wear out over the course of a run. It’s kind of similar to Atlanta, the way the asphalt surface is and the tire that Goodyear brings. You have to make your car work around the seams. In qualifying, you can work on getting your car to go as fast as you can. But during the two practices on Saturday, you’ve got to move around some and be able to drive over the bumps and across the seams so you can pass some cars.”

JUST THE FACTS: Ragan has 15 Sprint Cup career starts at Texas Motor Speedway … His best finish at the 1.5-mile oval is seventh (2011) … Ragan has one pole (2011) and two top-10 finishes at the Fort Worth track … Dockside Logistics returns as primary sponsor on the No. 34 Ford.
