Spoiler Alert: Ragan Can Be Bracket Buster at Talladega

David Ragan, driver of the No. 34 Dockside Logistics Ford, comments on racing at Talladega Superspeedway:

“This is an elimination race for the guys trying to advance to the next round of the Chase. I can see the last few laps at Talladega just being very crazy. As easy as it is to change positions when you’re in the middle or on the outside of three rows 10 deep, you can change four or five positions pretty quick. And that could mean making it to the next Chase round or not. So, I’m sure guys will have a strategy of trying to stay up front and maybe try to avoid the ‘Big One.’

“For our situation at Front Row Motorsports, we have to be on the offensive. This is a shot for our team to win another race. We’re not going to just ride around and hope things work out in our favor. We’ve got to be aggressive and see what our car can do and try to keep that track position all day. I think if you can stay up in the top 10 or even the top 15, you stand a good chance to stay in front of any accidents. I’ve stayed in the back and used the game plan of wait and let everyone else wreck and tear things up, and then try to advance in the closing laps, and it just doesn’t always work out.

“There are a lot of unknowns in effect when you go to a track like Talladega, and things can happen very quick. It should make for an exciting race, even more than normal.”
