NSCS: Hollywood Casino 400 Preview

yThe NASCAR Sprint Cup Series will take on the Kansas Speedway for the 14th annual Hollywood Casino 400. This weekend marks the series second stop at the 1.5-mile Kansas Speedway in 2014. Kevin Harvick comes into the event as the defending race winner.

A total of 43 drivers are scheduled to compete in the race on Sunday. This means that nobody went home following qualifying. Some of the drivers featured include: Joey Gase, Timmy Hill, Reed Sorenson, Mike Bliss, Mike Wallace, JJ Yeley and Michael McDowell.

Team Penske hopes to continue its performance this weekend as the Contender round gets underway. In the Challenger round, which was at the Chicagoland Speedway, New Hampshire Motor Speedway and the Dover International Speedway, both the Team Penske drivers scored wins in the first two events. Jeff Gordon’s victory last weekend at Dover broke up the Penske duo but Keselowski and Logano will still be seeded first and second.

Jimmie Johnson snuck his way through the Contender round as all of the attention has been placed on the Team Penske organization. Johnson has been able to finish inside the top-five the last two races but hasn’t led a lap since Michigan in August. He goes into the Kansas Speedway with two previous victories, six top-five and 14 top-10 finishes in the Sprint Cup Series.

Four drivers fell out of the Chase for the Sprint Cup last weekend at Dover. AJ Allmendinger, Aric Almirola, Greg Biffle and Kurt Busch are all now racing for the fifth spot in points at season finale race at Homestead.

You can watch the Hollywood Casino 400 at 2:00 p.m. Et live on ESPN. The Motor Racing Network will handle the live radio broadcast of the race.
