Reese Towpower Back Labonte at Pocono and Homestead

Cequent Consumer Products brand Reese Towpower®, the leading manufacturer for towing products, announced today the company added another race as primary sponsor of JTG Daugherty Racing’s No. 47 Toyota Camry with driver Bobby Labonte in the season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway on November 20th.

“Reese Towpower sponsored us in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Budweiser Shootout at Daytona International Speedway, which was the first race of the year and now they are sponsoring us in the last race of the season at Homestead-Miami Speedway,” said Bobby Labonte, driver of the No. 47 Reese Towpower/Highland entry fielded by JTG Daugherty Racing. “We are all charged up about what they were doing as a company and excited about the new products they have coming out. We have a good relationship with Reese Towpower that we hope will last for a very long time.”

In addition to Reese Towpower kicking off the 2011 season, they also sponsored Labonte’s car during the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series All-Star event weekend in May at Charlotte Motor Speedway and they are primary for the Good Sam RV Insurance 500 at Pocono Raceway this weekend. Adding another race was an easy decision for Cequent Consumer Products as NASCAR fans are also their customers.

“We are excited to partner with JTG Daugherty Racing for the last race of the season” said Francis Bernart, vice president of marketing for Cequent Consumer Products. “Since race fans are Reese fans, this is a great way for Reese to honor our loyal consumers as well as Bobby’s fans and to say thanks for a great season.”

With Reese Towpower and Highland’s support, Labonte is looking to add to his Pocono Raceway record, which includes three victories, five top-five and nine top-10 finishes. His last time out at the unique 2.5-mile tri-oval, he finished 28th in June.

“We just had a meeting about Pocono,” Labonte said. “We did not unload very well there last time. At least, we are going back a second time and we will have a better idea of what to do this time. I feel confident we will unload and race better. We have two practices on Friday and then qualifying on Saturday. In the June race, we did not have quite the pit strategy we needed to. I feel like this time will be different.

“We’re coming off of two races where we have a top-10 and top-20 finish,” Labonte continued. “We have figured out a couple things and we have a few things working in our favor. We should have finished in the top-20 there last time. We were racing guys in the top-20, but unfortunately we were a lap down.”
