Truex scores career-best finish at Pocono Raceway

Ryan Truex and the No. 83 Burger King / Dr Pepper Toyota Camry team finished 20th at Pocono (Pa.) Raceway on Sunday afternoon.  The result marks Truex’s first top-20 finish of the 2014 season, and the best finish of his Sprint Cup Series career.

Truex rolled off 37th for the GoBowling.com 400 at Pocono Raceway.  Initially lacking rear grip, Truex knew the challenge he would be up against at the track nicknamed “The Tricky Triangle.”  His Burger King / Dr Pepper team made a series of chassis and air pressure adjustments to tighten the handling of the car and provide the level of grip that Truex needed.

With a multi-car accident breaking out on lap 118, Truex was able to drive through the carnage unscathed and continue on to the finish line without any incidents.  By the time the checkered flag waved, Truex was scored in the 20th position.

“I’m really proud of the effort by our Burger King / Dr Pepper Toyota Camry team today,” commented Truex.  “We had a few challenges early in the race, but we were able to overcome all of them and bring home our best finish of the season.  We’re focused on improving this season, and that’s exactly what we did today.  I’m really proud to be a part of this BK Racing team and appreciate all the work my team does week in and week out.”
