Truex finishes 36th in New Hampshire

Ryan Truex and the No. 83 Burger King / Dr Pepper Toyota Camry team finished 36th at New Hampshire Motor Speedway on Sunday afternoon.  After fighting the handling on his car throughout the early stages of the event, Truex was able to keep his car clean while he avoided any trouble on the track to drive to a 36th place finish.

Truex, a Sunoco Rookie contender, rolled off 38th for his first start at the one-mile New Hampshire Motor Speedway.  After fighting the handling of his car throughout the majority of practice, the race wasn’t much different as Truex developed an extreme tight condition as he returned to the gas while exiting the corners.  The condition was so extreme that it even caused the front tires to chatter.

In a relatively clean race, Truex utilized each opportunity he had to visit pit road for adjustments to his car.  With a variety of chassis and air pressure adjustments, the handling of the Burger King / Dr Pepper Toyota Camry improved, but the car never handled fully to Truex’ liking.  By the time the checkered flag waved, Truex was scored in the 36th position.

“We had a challenging race with our Burger King / Dr Pepper Toyota Camry this afternoon, but I feel as though we learned quite a bit and I’m happy with all the hard work my guys put into the car,” commented Truex.  “With the flat track surface here, there aren’t a lot of tracks like New Hampshire, so I was expecting a tough race.  This year, we’ve just been focused on getting better every week, and I feel like we achieved that goal this weekend simply by building up our notebook.  We come back to New Hampshire in September, and I believe we’ll be in a better position entering that race weekend after our run here today.”
