Whitt leads BK Racing to 12-place finish at the Sprint Showdown

Cole Whitt and the No. 26 Speed Stick GEAR Toyota Camry team finished in the 12th position in the Sprint Showdown at Charlotte Motor Speedway on Friday night.  After racing inside the top 10, Whitt and his team experienced some challenges with the balance of their Toyota Camry.  Despite the issue, Whitt was able to lead all BK Racing teams with his 12th-place finish.

Whitt rolled off in the 11th position for his first Sprint Showdown event.  Easily moving through the field during the opening laps, Whitt was scored inside the top 10 by lap eight.  As the segment progressed, Whitt called into his crew to report that his car was loose in the center and tight off the turns.  The Speed Stick GEAR team serviced their Toyota Camry with four tires and an air pressure adjustment before starting the final segment of the race.  With no major incidents during the final 20-lap segment, Whitt was able to drive his Toyota Camry to a clean 12th place finish.

“We knew qualifying into the Sprint All Star Race would be a difficult challenge,” commented Whitt.  “I’m still proud of the effort of our Speed Stick GEAR Toyota Camry team today at Charlotte Motor Speedway.  We got some great track time, and I feel like we learned a few things that will help us during the race next week.  The 600 is by far one of the most grueling events that we have, so anything we can do to prepare for that event is great.  I’m looking forward to racing at home for another week and to continue working on our intermediate track program.”
