2012 NASCAR Champion Brad Keselowski surprises veterans with race tickets

2012 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Champion Brad Keselowski visited military veterans at the Phoenix VA Health Care System on Monday and surprised several vets with tickets to the upcoming NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Phoenix International Raceway on Sunday, March 2.

Keselowski joined a group of veterans at the facility for lunch and visited with several others as he toured the hospital. The 29-year-old thanked each of the veterans for their service, and as a token of gratitude, offered them complimentary race tickets on behalf of his charitable foundation.

Founded in 2010, Brad Keselowski’s Checkered Flag Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit which supports those who have sacrificed greatly, including military personnel, veterans, first-responders and their families.

Keselowski also tested out a driving simulator which is used in the rehabilitation process for veterans who suffered severe injuries. The simulator allows a driver to control the gas and brake pedals through hand controls; and it recreates the feeling of driving a car, from the sights and sounds of the highway to the feeling of hitting bumps in the road.
