NSCS: Truex Ready to Continue Momentum After Great Run at Texas in April

Martin Truex, Jr. heads into Texas Motor Speedway looking to start back where he left earlier this season. Back at Texas in the spring, he led the second most laps of 142 of the event, but had to settle in the second spot after losing the race by 0.508 seconds.

Truex ran the test session at the 1.5-mile oval last week in hopes to capture the victory this Sunday.

Truex hopes to go out with a bang to help the team in a positive way after what they had to go through this season. With the next three race tracks being good places for him, Martin thinks they can get some great finishes in these last three events.

All this NAPA team wants to do is go out swinging. They have always worked hard and deserve something really good to happen. We’ve had such a great time together and we want to finish out this season strong. The last couple of weeks have been frustrating. Not a lot has gone our way. Three of our best tracks are coming up. Hopefully they will be good to us so that we can do some good things. All we want to do is to go out on a positive note. This NAPA team deserves it.”

Martin also provided an update on his wrist after he suffered an injury just before the Chase started. He said it is about 75 percent healed. Martin said the cast is removable and only needs to wear it when he is inside the race car.
