NASCAR announced penalties following the season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway on Tuesday. The three penalties, spanning across the NASCAR XFINITY and Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series, were all for lug nut(s) not properly secured.
Crew Chief Jason Ratcliff, on the No. 20 Toyota driven by Matt Kenseth, was fined $20,000 and suspended from the next Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Championship points event. The penalty is higher because the car was found with two missing or not secured lug nuts following the event.
Crew chief Paul Wolfe, on the No. 2 Ford driven by Brad Keselowski, has been fined $10,000 for lug nut(s) not properly secured.
The one and only penalty found in the NASCAR XFINITY Series garage over the weekend impacted the No. 16 Ford driven by Ryan Reed. Phil Gould has been fined $5,000 for lug nuts not properly secured.
There were no penalties found in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series garage.
