Whitt scores top-25 finish in Pocono

Cole Whitt and the No. 26 Toyota of Scranton Toyota Camry team finished 21st at Pocono (Pa.) Raceway on Sunday afternoon.  Despite fighting the balance of his car early in the race, Whitt went on to score his third top-25 result of the season.

Racing with a new partner on board, Whitt rolled off 33rd in his Toyota of Scranton Toyota Camry on Sunday afternoon.  Early in the race, the Sunoco Rookie contender radioed his crew to report a loose handling racecar.  Concerned that he may lose control of the car, Whitt requested major chassis and air pressure adjustments during the opening round of pit stops.

With his Toyota Camry vastly improved early in a run, Whitt’s team continued to fine-tune the handling of their car to ensure the handling maintained its balance during long green flag runs.  Running as high as the 18th position, Whitt was able to avoid a large multi-car accident on lap 118.  Again losing grip in his Toyota Camry as the track changed, Whitt was able to drive to a 21st-place finish.

“We had a good run today with our Toyota of Scranton Toyota Camry,” commented Whitt.  “The balance of our car was off early in the event, but the team continued to make adjustments and we got better with each stop.  Our focus remains on building our program and continually getting better, and I feel like we accomplished that throughout the course of today’s race.  I’m looking forward to getting some more road course experience and racing at Watkins Glen next week.”
