Young’s Motorsports Earns Top-15 Finish at Gateway Motorsports Park

AUSTIN HILL EARNS 11TH-PLACE RESULT AT HIS SECOND VISIT TO GATEWAY

Austin Hill made his second-career NASCAR Camping World Truck Series start at Gateway Motorsports Park in Madison, Ill., this weekend. He was in the top-20 during every practice session and his lap times got better each time he hit the track. Hill started the 160-lap Villa Lighting delivers the Eaton 200 presented by CK Power from 19th and advanced his way forward to earn a finish just outside of the top-10.

Hill rolled off for the Villa Lighting delivers the Eaton 200 presented by CK Power from 19th and was running in 18th when the first caution of the race was displayed on lap 22. He pit under caution for four fresh tires, a track bar adjustment and restarted in 22nd. The Winston, Ga., native was back up to 18th when the caution came out with three laps remaining in the opening stage. Stage 1 ended under the caution with Hill in 18th.

The pilot of the No. 20 ARCO National Construction Chevrolet stayed on track during the end of the Stage 1 caution and restarted the second stage from seventh. With 10 laps to go in Stage 2, Hill was running in 17th and five laps later when the caution was displayed, he was up to 16th. Much like the opening stage, Stage 2 ended under caution with Hill in 16th-place.

Hill brought his truck down pit road at the end of Stage 2 for four fresh tires and fuel to restart the final stage in 19th on lap 75. A quick caution came out two laps later and he was up to 17th and when another caution was displayed on lap 98 he was in 16th. On lap 100, Hill came to pit road for four tires and fuel and restarted Stage 3 in 14th with 56 laps remaining in the race. Hill survived four more cautions in the closing laps of Stage 3 to finish just outside of the top-10 in 11th.

 

STRONG RUN FOR TATE FOGLEMAN’S TRUCK SERIES DEBUT ENDS EARLY 

 

Tate Fogleman made his NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) debut this weekend at Gateway Motorsports Park in Madison, Ill. The 18-year-old got better each time he hit the track in all three practice sessions and qualified 15th for the 160-lap Villa Lighting delivers the Eaton 200 presented by CK Power. Fogleman was having a strong run all evening but unfortunately got caught up in an accident on lap 115 relegating him to a 27th-place finish.

Fogleman kicked off for the Villa Lighting delivers the Eaton 200 presented by CK Power from 15th and was running 17th when the first caution of the race came out on lap 22. The youngster did not pit during the caution and was just outside of the top-10 when the second yellow came out with three laps remaining in the opening stage. Stage 1 ended under the caution with Fogleman in 11th.

The 18-year-old pit on lap 37 for four tires, fuel and a track bar adjustment and restarted Stage 2 from 17th. He was back inside the top-15 when the only caution in the second stage was displayed on lap 65 and Stage 2 ended under caution with Fogleman in 15th.

Fogleman brought the No. 20 Over Kill Motorsports Chevrolet Silverado to pit road on lap 71 for four tires, fuel and another track bar adjustment. He survived two more cautions  and was in 13th when he came to pit road on lap 100 for more fuel and a track bar adjustment to restart in 12th with 56 laps remaining in the 160-lap race. Unfortunately, on lap 115, Fogleman got caught up in an accident with another spinning truck, as he had nowhere to go. He got out of his No. 20 Over Kill Motorsports Chevrolet under his own power, was treated and released from the infield care center and relegated to a 27th-place finish in his NCWTS debut.
