Austin Cindric Dover Breakdown

Austin Cindric claimed a career-best fifth-place finish in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race on Friday evening at Dover International Speedway. Cindric did a nice job taming the Monster Mile, the tough one-mile Delaware speedway known for dishing out punishment to drivers and teams alike.

Cindric started the race fourth, but his LTi Printing Ford F-150 was simply too tight during the early laps of the race.  He was 10th when crew chief Doug Randolph called his driver to pit road for tires and adjustments during the second caution on lap 37. Cindric finished 11th in Stage 1, but restarted fourth on lap 54 when the leaders pitted for service during the third caution at the end of the opening stage.

During the next run, the driver of the LTi Printing Ford F-150 ran solidly among the top five. He finished Stage 2 in fifth place, and pitted during the sixth caution on lap 91 for four tires and adjustments. Cindric lined up 16th when the race went back to green on lap 100.

Despite a heavy traffic and a tight-handling truck, Cindric was able to work his way up to 11th place when the seventh yellow slowed the race on lap 118.  One lap later, Cindric pitted for a change of left-side tires, and he restarted 10th when the race went green on lap 122. By lap 153, other trucks on the lead lap began to make scheduled green-flag pit stops, and Cindric started to climb up the leaderboard.

He was up to fourth on lap 172 at the time of the eighth and final caution during the sequence of green-flag stops.  Race leader Johnny Sauter didn’t pit during the yellow, which locked eight trucks on the lead lap.  Cindric pitted on lap 173 for four tires and adjustments and restarted fifth when the race went green on lap 176.  He was shuffled back to sixth place on the restart, but quickly recovered and grabbed fifth away from Brandon Jones on lap 185.  From there, he steadily pulled away from his rival to claim his first top five.
