Young Standout, Ali Kern Looks Forward to Remainder of 2011

Ali Kern and her Ali Kern Motorsports team are preparing for what will be a very busy summer as Kern continues her climb up the development ranks of NASCAR.  Kern, who turns 18 today, will compete in the newly-developed Template Body Race Association with her first race coming up on June 11 at the Midvale (Ohio) Speedway.

Kern, known throughout Ohio as one of the youngest female drivers to enter the national stage in NASCAR, has multiple championships in the ranks of quad motocross and karting, as well as wins in asphalt modifieds.  She is also the youngest female racer to start in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East when she raced at Lee USA Speedway in 2010.  She has support from Ohio-based Crown Battery, but continues to look for sponsorship to help her compete in the NASCAR Pro Series East this season.

“Right now, I’m just excited to get back to the race track,” said Kern.  “We raced at Greenville Pickens Speedway with our NASCAR Pro Series car and now I’m looking forward to start our late model season in just a few short weeks.”

Kern and her team made their 2011 racing debut during the NASCAR Pro Series East opener at the Greenville (S.C.) Pickens Speedway in March.  Kern, one of only two females entered, qualified an impressive 21st and finished 26th after a mechanical failure in the closing laps.  She hopes her experience in the late model will propel her finishes in the Pro Series East later this summer.

“We’re using the late model to get more experience with the heavier cars, because our goal is to race in more east series events,” continued Kern.  Our biggest obstacle right now is the funding to race in more of the NASCAR races, but we’re still pretty excited to race the late model and support this series. I’m looking forward to the summer.”

One of the biggest events for Kern this summer will be when the NASCAR Pro Series East comes to the Columbus (Ohio) Speedway on July 23.  Kern will be one of the few Ohio natives in the event.  The team is concentrating their efforts for this race and welcomes additional sponsorship.

“The race here in Ohio is going to be really important to me,” continued Kern. “It’s going to be a great way to say ‘thanks’ to everyone who has supported me throughout my career in my home state.  We are proud to have Crown Battery supporting us, but still need additional sponsorship as well.”

Kern has plans to compete in up to four more NASCAR Pro Series East events in 2011, but can add more depending on sponsorship. For more information on sponsorship you can visit www.alikern.com.
