Stewart Friesen Taken Out By Teammate Johnny Sauter

Stewart Friesen was a little slower in practice and qualifying at Gateway MSP, but it didn’t stop him from making a run for the checkered.  Starting in P16, Friesen wasted no time battling his way up the pack and showed promise for a strong finish.  Had he won, he would have set a series record at Gateway for winning from the furthest position back.

Once there, Friesen spent much of the race battling for positions in the top 10, only to be taken out in the race’s final stage by GMS driver, Johnny Sauter.  Many believe the move was intentional, with NCWTS fans suggesting Sauter dumped Friesen.  Despite Heavy damage, Friesen was able to get back on the track and pull out a P13 finish, Sauter took P3.

Friesen, who will race on dirt at Brett Hearn’s Big Show 10 before heading to Chicago had this to say “With our track record on mile and halves this year I cant wait to get to Chicago.  We’re really confident in the Silverado we’re bringing there and the team as a group has really been clicking the past few weeks.  With a little opportunity we’ll be able to pull off another good run.”
