ThorSport Racing – 2017 Talladega Recap

Grant Enfinger Finishes Fourth at Talladega Superspeedway

“Overall, I think we got about as much out of our Champion Power Equipment Tundra as we could. We made a lot of improvements since practice and we had a truck today to contend for the win, but we weren’t the best truck and just needed a little help there at the end. It was fun racing with those guys today. We had a good run, just not what we came here to do. Fortunate to bring a truck home in one piece, and extremely fortunate Cody (Coughlin, teammate) is alright, that looked pretty vicious there in the mirror. Just thankful to ThorSport Racing and all my guys for bringing such a good truck here today and for the opportunity to come here and race.”

Matt Crafton Advances To The Round of 6 Following A Top-10 Finish At Talladega

“We were strong all day – ran inside the top 10, top five, most of the afternoon. Unfortunately, we were just at the wrong place, at the wrong time today and got caught-up in someone else’s mess. After the damage we just tried to make the best of our day. We were lucky enough to bring home a top-10 finish, and make it into the Round of 6. I’m looking forward to the tracks in this Round.”

Ben Rhodes Advances To The Round of 6 Despite a 23rd-Place Finish at Talladega

“Good thing we won at Vegas. Our Safelite Tundra had speed all day, we just never were able to make it up front – we were trying to play it safe for a while. I knew it would be too hard to get up front, to get the stage points we needed, but people were just driving really sporadic today, not staying in their lanes. Just side drafting in the tri-oval when they shouldn’t, and side drafting in and out of the corners. Just not smart racing in my opinion, and a lot of times that causes the line to checkup. Unfortunately, I got into the back of a couple people today, from the line checking up so quickly – just that accordion effect – and finally somebody side-drafted the guy in front of me in the tri-oval, and got them loose, and just wrecked in front of us. Just need to be a little smarter racing out here at Talladega. I tried to do my best today, we just weren’t able to get up front due to circumstances.”

Cody Coughlin Leads Laps But Gets Caught-Up In The “Big One” At Talladega

“I had a lot of fun running up front, and leading laps. Unfortunately, we didn’t make it to the end to get the finish we deserved. I think we had a shot at the win. It was a big hit, but thankfully the good Lord kept me safe and I’m okay. We’ll head to Martinsville and try to get after it there.”
