Tyler Reddick Homestead-Miami Speedway Recap

In the moments following the Ford EcoBoost 200 Friday night at Homestead-Miami (Fla.) Speedway, one could easily have understood if Tyler Reddick (@TylerReddick) showed a bit of frustration.

The driver of the Stoney Creek Records Ford F-150 had just fallen 15 points shy of  capturing his first NASCAR Camping World Truck Series title despite the fact the young driver had a series best 14 top five finishes, including a third place effort at Homestead.

Though young in age, Reddick handled the disappointment with the poise of a veteran.  He sincerely thanked partners Broken Bow Music Group, Cequent and Ford Performance plus praised Roush Yates Engines and his Brad Keselowski Racing teammates.  He then spoke about what he can do to improve and make an even stronger run at the title in 2016.

The Ford EcoBoost 200 was in many ways a reflection of Reddick’s 2015 season.  He qualified fourth and ran among the top three for the majority of the 134 lap, 200 mile event.  Tyler ran third during the early stages of the race and was up to second when he made his first scheduled pit stop under green on lap 49 for four tires and adjustments.  When the pit sequence was complete on lap 52, Tyler was fourth in the running order.

Reddick was up to third when the second yellow flag slowed the pace on lap 61.  Two laps later he made his second stop for four tires and adjustments.  Excellent pit work put Tyler third when the race restarted on lap 66.

He remained third through the third caution on lap 75 but when the race went green on lap 78 he began to battle a loose handling truck.  Reddick made a pit stop under the fourth and final caution on lap 84 for four tires and adjustments.  A variety of pit strategies among the leaders shuffled him back to ninth place when the race restarted on lap 88.

He sliced his way through traffic moments after the green flag waved on lap 89 to grab fourth position.  Within one lap he had picked off third and on lap 94 he was up to second place.

By lap 108 Reddick found himself in a close battle with John Hunter Nemechek for second.  The two raced hard before Tyler settled into third position on lap 110.  Over the final 24 laps Reddick couldn’t mount another challenge and was forced to settle for a third place finish.
