Tyler Reddick Texas Motor Speedway Recap

Race day for Tyler Reddick at Texas Motor Speedway had more twists and turns than a daytime soap opera.  The young driver overcame a variety of misfortunes to score an 11th place finish in Friday night’s WinStar World Casino 400.  Reddick (@TylerReddick) remains second in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series championship standings, now 25 points behind the leader.

The adventures for Reddick began when he made a first scheduled green flag pit stop on lap 73 while running fourth.  He was zapped by a penalty for driving through more than three pit boxes leaving his pit stall.  Tyler served his penalty on lap 83 when the third caution of the race occurred – a fortunate turn of events that kept Reddick from losing more ground.  Tyler pitted on lap 84 for a fuel-only stop and restarted eighth when the race went green on lap 86.

Reddick was fourth when he made his second stop under green on lap 127 for four tires and adjustments but misfortune struck again.  He was too fast exiting the pit lane and served a pass through penalty on lap 130 – a sequence that left Reddick in 11th position.

His troubles continued on lap 134 when he radioed his crew that something didn’t feel right.  He made an unscheduled stop under green on lap 137 for a loose wheel which dropped him two laps down.  The fourth caution of the race on lap 153 gave Reddick the opportunity to use the wave around to make up a lap and contend for the free pass back to the lead lap.

The final caution of the race appeared to be a huge break for Tyler.  He received the free pass back onto the lead lap and pitted on lap 163 for four tires.  But the truck stalled as Reddick was leaving his pit and required a push from a safety vehicle to restart, dropping him a lap down and into 13th for the final dash to the checkered flag.  He picked up two positions in the closing laps to claim an 11th place finish.
